Polymers

Classify materials, coatings, and composites

Forensics

Rapidly identify unknown substances in the field

Conservation

Study artefacts and artworks without causing damage

How FTIR Technology Works

Fourier Transform Infra-Red Spectroscopy involves the following steps:

One

A sample in solid, liquid, or gas form is exposed to infrared light from a controlled source

Two

The sample absorbs infrared light at specific frequencies, causing its molecular bonds to vibrate

Three

The absorbed light is measured and converted into an interferogram, capturing all spectral data

Four

A Fourier Transform converts the interferogram into a readable spectrum, revealing the sample's molecular composition
